Back in the early spring, I was introduced to the work of Danielle Laporte. If you haven't heard of her or her book, The Firestarter Sessions, it's a bestseller and I would go as far as saying a phenomenon. This book kicked a lot of peoples' butts, shoving them out of complacency, to think about what they really want in their lives.
I'm embarking on a health pilgrimmage. More on this later...maybe. I've also been working on my first zine, Chronically Yours, about living with chronic illness, so I've been doing a lot of reading and research about coping and support for chronic illnesses and chronic pain. I've found some really wonderful resources and readings, and some of them deserve full posts but for now I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favourites with you.
#8 on my Life to-do list: Make a zine. Check!
You heard me right. After wanting to make a zine since my teen years, and never getting up the guts to fully write and publish one, I've done it!
Hot One Inch Action is an art show put on every year by Hot Art Wet City, an organization that promotes local artists in Vancouver and organizes various shows around town. Hot One Inch Action now happens in Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, and for the first time this year also NYC. This is the third year in a row I've attended the show, it's really fun as you (as an attendee) can take part by buying $5 bags of buttons and then trading to get the buttons you like best!
Knitters from Vancouver and surrounding areas have been eagerly chomping at the bit for weeks, nay months, waiting for this past weekend to arrive. Why? Knit City!!!
I didn't get around to writing a more detailed post about Bruno's and my road trip through Oregon and California, though I've peppered some of the photos through posts since then. Better late than never, I wanted to at least gather my favourite photos, both digital and film (now that I've got them developed). I've kept the two kinds separate, since the film ones have a bit of a different look that I find interesting. You can see the full unedited set here.
